What is a Man's Braille Watch?

With an appearance that is similar to any standard man's watch, a braille analog watch difference is having a protective crystal or glass cover that flips open, allowing the user to touch the watch face to locate the position of the watch-hands and the braille dots which represent the location of the hour numbers. A braille watch offers the visually impaired or blind individual an optional discreet means of telling time by touch instead of having a loud computerized voice resonating from the watch, announcing the time.

Braille watches are popular and very useful assistive devices for visually impaired individuals to use every day. An analog braille watch is easy to use because it offers clock hands that are sturdy and won’t bend or break from repeated touches from a finger of a visually impaired user checking the time. The watch face is pre-formatted like a standard watch but with a raised braille dot system to correspond with the twelve numbers as well for the quarter hour, half-hour, and hour positions. Because of the standard watch style face, sighted users will also have no problem telling the time with a braille watch.

Although braille watches are made to be sturdy and durable, they do come with a protective cover or lid that can be flipped open when the user is checking the time and closed again to protect the watch hands from catching onto material or clothing leading to possible damage, while also ensuring the position and integrity of the watch hands. Some of the braille watches also come with an optional sound of a voice telling the user the time with a push of a button on the side of the watch.

As with many standard men’s watches, braille watches have the same quartz movement and accuracy as well as the same looks and classic styles, fitting fashionably with any wardrobe for any environment or situation.

Braille watches are yet another item offered by Rehabmart to help enhance independence and freedom for people who are visually impaired, presenting them the ability to discreetly find out the time anywhere without asking others for assistance.

Rehabmart is pleased to offer a good selection of superior quality men’s braille watches from such experienced and renowned vendors as MaxiAids and LSS.
