The Women's Radio Controlled Talking Watch has a high-contrast white dial with black numerals and hands, and a brushed metal alloy bezel. Batteries are included.
The time is announced at the press of a button; press the button again to get an announcement with the day of the week and the date. An hourly chime function may be turned off.
The radio-controlled function operates on long-wave radio, which can go around obstacles such as mountains or buildings; no line of sight is necessary between the transmitter and receiver, so a single very powerful station can cover a huge geographic area. Long-wave signals can even penetrate the walls of most buildings. Transmission delay is less affected by the variability of the ionosphere, since propagation happens mostly in the form of a ground wave. The radio-controlled function will only work in the USA (lower 48; not in Alaska or Hawaii), the UK, Germany, and Japan. See the product manual for details. When outside these areas the watch can be set manually but automatic updates will not happen.
