For patients who have some mobility, particularly in the arms, passive lifts are often used for transfers. Passive lifts are also used to aid in the development or rehabilitation of a patient's ability to walk on their own; these slings are designed to be used with ArjoHuntleigh passive lifts and assist with both these functions. The harnesses strap around the patients torso, sometimes with added support around the upper chest area or below the buttocks.
Patients can stand on the transfer platform of the lift in a fully upright standing position or an inclined standing position, where they can work on using their own muscles to support themselves in the secure and safe harness. Patients can also stand on the ground and use the lift as a support as they work on their ability to walk by themselves. Under the close supervision of a caregiver, patients can learn to take steps by themselves without fear of falling.
These slings are made of strong nylon and polyester for comfortable durability and are machine washable for hassle-free cleaning; the reliable construction ensures up to ten years of frequent use. The 600-pound safe working load accommodates most patients and provides added peace of mind during use. To see which passive lifts these slings are compatible with, please see the chart below.
