The TRUEcontrol® Glucose Control Solution is a liquid containing a precise, pre-measured amount of glucose for testing the accuracy of blood glucose meters. This solution is for use with the TRUEread®, TRUEtrack®, TrackEase (tm), and Sidekick® Blood Glucose Meters and their corresponding test strips.
Use the TRUEcontrol® Control Solution in place of blood to make sure your meter system is working correctly. If your meter's results fall within the range of control values given on the test strips label, then your meter is accurate and working properly. TRUEcontrol® Control Solution can also be used to practice using your meter without needing to prick your fingers or use a blood sample.
Control tests should be performed monthly, with new test strips, when the meter's batteries are changed, and whenever you suspect your meter may not be working correctly. Control tests should be performed with more than one level of TRUEcontrol® Glucose Control Solution when checking for meter result accuracy.
Performing a TRUEcontrol® Control Solution Test:
1. Check the expiration dates on the Control Solution bottle & test strips label.
2. Match the Control Solution level with the Control range on your test strips label.
3. Gently turn the Control Solution bottle upside down and back a few times, but do not shake it.
4. Remove one test strip and close the test strips vial. Turn the blood glucose meter on by inserting a test strip.
5. With the bottle upside down, squeeze one drop of TRUEcontrol® Control Solution onto a tissue and clean off the bottle's tip.
6. Squeeze another drop of control solution onto a piece of aluminum foil or plastic wrap. Touch the sample tip of the test strip in the meter to the drop of control solution.
7. When the drop is drawn into the test strip, the meter should begin testing. Remove the test strip from the drop of solution.
8. When the meter shows your results, compare them with the control range on the test strips label.
9. Press the strip release button on the meter to remove the test strip from meter & discard.
If the results are within the range on the test strip vial, your meter is working correctly.
If the results are outside the range, call the manufacturer of your meter.
TRUEcontrol® Control Solution must be stored upright and tightly sealed at room temperature (59 - 86 degrees F or 15 - 28 degrees C). Do not refrigerate or freeze the solution. Using the TRUEcontrol® Control Solution at temperatures outside of this range may cause the control solution to be read as blood.
TRUEcontrol® Control Solution Contents: Water, d-glucose, buffers, viscosity enhancing agents, salts, dyes, and preservatives.
Warnings:
For in vitro use only.
Discard after expiration date or 3 months after opening.
Do not drink.
Do not use the control range on the test strip vial label as your recommended blood glucose range.
Do not use your test strips or meter for blood glucose testing if the TRUEcontrol® Control Solution results are not within the control range.
