More Information

The Therapy Mouse provides a low cost solution that gives people of all physical abilities the ability to direct and click a computer mouse. Particularly helpful for those who have limited mobility in the hands, the Therapy Mouse can be controlled with different body parts, including the head, arms, and even legs. By using physical gestures, the wearable replacement mouse controls the cursor on the computer screen.

These gestures make it possible to point, click, drag, and drop items on the screen. No extra parts, such as cameras, are needed to control the mouse. Whether used with gaming software, to navigate between website pages, or as a dual task activity during gait training, the Therapy Mouse provides a fun and engaging way to access computer mouse based programs on any PC, Mac, or Android.

Dual tasking
The ability to perform cognitive tasks and physical tasks simultaneously can be difficult for patients recovering from medical conditions. For instance, patients recovering from a stroke have trouble shifting focus between tasks during physical therapy. This is why using the Therapy Mouse to access Mobility Research's Gait Analysis GaitSense Software while also using the LiteGait Gait Trainer conditions the patient to perform cognitive and physical tasks at the same time.

Also referred to as Dual task gait training (DTGT), using the Therapy Mouse during gait training not only helps teach the patient to switch between task, but also keeps the patient motivated to perform more reps. The physical therapy clinic-based accessibility tool can also be used as part of a home exercise physical therapy program that uses game-based general fitness exercises for rehabilitative purposes to help increase strength and coordination.
