Product Overview:

This wheelchair gets its name due to its ergonomic design. The uniquely constructed backrest is curved to fit and support the shape of a human spine. This design provides support, improves posture, decreases pressure, and is remarkably comfortable. Furthermore, the angled seat prevents slipping and slouching. Its ultralightweight frame weighs only 13.8-pounds after you remove the quick-release wheels and footrests, so it can effortlessly be folded for easy transport.

More Information

The STRONGBACK24 highlights all of the original qualities of a standard wheelchair and turns them into supportive, ergonomic, comfortable features that better suit an outdoor and indoor lifestyle. The large 24-inch rear wheels have tread on them that is similar to a mountain bike. You no longer have to conform and stay inside because this assistive chair allows you to take a journey outside. There are three seat widths available in a small, medium, and large, and a 300-pound weight limit.

The specially designed backrest is curved to fit and support the shape of a human spine. The angled seat prevents slipping and poor posture because it aligns the pelvis. The 1.2-inch cushioned reduces pressure points on the buttocks, discs in the spine, and the coccyx.

Since this transport wheelchair has been designed by medical professionals and engineers with compassion and an understanding of the needs of wheelchair users, it has been fabricated with great attention to detail. A security net prevents arms, clothing, or anything in the seat from becoming logged into the wheels. There is adjustable lumbar support that can be changed by unlatching Velcro flaps on the back. The lumbar support can be changed in height and firmness. Padded armrests provide support while you rest.

The frame is lightweight and weighs between 19 and 26-pounds. The entire unit folds down to a more compact size for transport in a vehicle or for storage. The footrests can be completely removed or rotated to the side for easy entry and exit. There are heel guards in each footrest so that your feet never slip back and bump the ground. The stylish curved frame looks smooth and original when compared to boxier, older models.

The STRONGBACK24 transport chair is available with all of the previously mentioned features and an additional set of handbrakes for the rear wheels. The handbrakes are accessible by the person sitting in the chair and the person pushing from behind. They are built-in on the left and right sides.

 Swiveling the Footrests

To swivel the footrests, hold the top of the footrest and pull it gently upwards in order to release it from its locked position. Then swivel the footrest forward or backward until it is in the desired locked positions. Footrests can be locked into place to the rear, side, or front.

Removing the Footrests

The footrests can be completely removed from the wheelchair by pulling the plastic clip with its retaining pin horizontally out of the tube. The whole of the footrest can then be pulled up and out of the footrest mounting. When refitting the footrests, ensure that the hole for the locking pin in the footrest is aligned with the hole in the frame.

Adjusting the Anti-Tip Wheels

If the wheelchair is to go up or down a high step (e.g. a curb), the anti-tip wheels must be swiveled upwards to avoid them catching on the ground. Pull on them to unlock and swivel up/down so it looks like picture 2 above.

Adjusting the Position of the Rear Drive Wheels

STRONGBACK24 Ultra Lightweight Portable Wheelchair Picture

You have a choice of three horizontally adjacent positions for the axle serving the rear-drive wheels. This makes it possible to adjust the center of gravity and the associated maneuvering characteristics of the wheelchair. The further back the axle mounts are installed, the less likely the wheelchair is to tip over in use. The further forward the axle mounts are installed, the lower the proportion of the total weight that is over the forward casters, making it easier to deliberately tip the wheelchair backward (either by the user or the companion), which in turn makes the chair easier to maneuver.

FAQ For STRONGBACK24 Ultra Lightweight Portable Wheelchair

? Have a question about this product? Click here to ask us!
Is there a warranty?
Answer: The frame of your Strongback wheelchair is guaranteed for 5 years against defects in manufacturing and materials. The seat, footrests, and other auxiliary parts are guaranteed for 12 months.
The warranty does not cover defects or deterioration due to normal wear or damage due to misuse, alteration, tampering, negligence, accidents, unauthorized repair or any other cause beyond the reasonable control of Strongback Mobility.
What seat size should I buy?
Answer: There are three seat sizes available. The smaller seat measures 16" across, while the regular measures 18" across, and the large measures 20 across. Obviously, a larger person will need a larger seat. The smaller seat width, however, makes a smaller overall chair, which maneuvers more easily in narrow places, like a restaurant or around furniture. We recommend that you choose the smallest size that still works comfortably for you.
Whats the best way to fold the chair up?
Answer: You will first want to fold down the back and then pull up on the center front and back of the seat fabric.
What material are the front and rear wheels made of?
Answer: The tires are made out of polyurethane.
