The Sport Trac Orthopedic Knee Strap is an external medical device designed to provide pain relief from chondromalacia patella, or "runner's knee." Usually affecting young, athletic individuals, chondromalacia can also occur in an older adult who may have arthritis of the knee. This knee strap helps restrict improper kneecap movement due to poor alignment of the knee due to a congenital physical condition, muscle imbalance between the abductors and adductors, a direct physical blow to the kneecap, or weak quadriceps and hamstrings.
Worn around the leg and below the patella, the strap applies pressure on the patellar tendon and helps reduce unwanted movement of the patella as the knee flexes and extends. While helping to restrict unwanted kneecap movement, the strap will not impede blood circulation or restrict the normal mobility of the user.
The latex-free strap is made with durable nylon with soft open-cell foam lining to provide a comfortable feel against the user's skin, and the tubular insert can be removed to suit the user's need.
A hook and loop closure on the knee strap makes application, adjustments, and removal quick and easy.
