Soft Shell Helmets use no hardware on the foam shell, so the facial area of your loved one or patient doesn't come into contact with anything hard or uncomfortable. The helmets are constructed from half inch thick, shock absorbing foam that retains compression resistance. The soft foam will not break down even with multiple impacts. Coated with Fabricoat, the helmet has a bacterial barrier to discourage growth of bacteria. Soft Shell Helmets are easy to clean by hand with warm soapy water.

The standard strap is a polypropylene webbing with a snap fastener. A free set of 4 Cush-In-Pads are included with every helmet for more individualized sizing adjustments, if needed. If child's head circumference falls between helmet sizes, additional cushions may be needed. See Optional Liner Cushions found above.

Since proper fit is important for the comfort of the person wearing headgear, measurements should be determined by professional personnel.

Measure the head circumference (A) at eyebrow level. Occipital measurement (B) is taken from eyebrow level to the back of the head at the point that the helmet is to end. Over the top of the Head (C) to top of ears.

HEADGEAR SELECTION

Some suggested considerations to use in helping to determine what type of helmet would be suitable for your client.

degree of physical activity
potential striking surfaces (floor, walls, furniture, etc.)
nature of self abusiveness
severity & frequency of seizures or spasticity
length of time worn

IMPORTANT

While we believe that headgear can substantially reduce the risk of head injury we emphasize that there is no known device for preventing all injuries. Only you the customer are in a position to evaluate the particularized needs of the individual client in each environment. It is essential that professional and medical expertise be utilized in rendering decisions regarding headgear use.

Options:

	MODEL 3467 - REINFORCED SEAMS Reinforced vinyl material is bonded into our foam liner seams, giving extra strength in these areas for situations where they receive exceptional stress.
	MODEL 3466 - FOAM REINFORCEMENT Reinforced vinyl material is bonded to our 9820 or 9821 full helmet liner to prolong the life of the helmet. Especially good in situations when receiving particularly hard use. Clear vinyl material is applied to the outside of the foam for support and then 3 coats of paint is applied over the foam and vinyl material to create the reinforced foam.
	MODEL 3468 - FOAM VISOR A thick 2" foam visor extends from the helmet approximately 3", and absorbs impact from bumps to the frontal area of the head. Closed cell foam with vinyl coating retains its compression resistance. This can be used in conjunction with the Face Bar when face forward impact is probable. Options: * Installed on a Hard Shell Helmet OR * Installed on a Soft Shell Helmet

MODEL 3469 - QUICK RELEASE BUCKLE CHIN STRAP

Use in place of a regular chin strap when frequent attempts to remove the helmet occur. To release, just squeeze the buckle.

MODEL 3470 - EYE GLASS RELIEF AREA FOR MODEL 9820 & MODEL 9821

Most clients who wear glasses are very comfortable wearing helmets without this modification, but if eyeglass frames are a problem this solution is offered. Specially constructed padded polypropylene slings are formed to allow extra room for eyeglass frames.

MODEL 3472 - HELMET CUSTOM STRAPPING SYSTEM

Ideal for those situations where there are attempts to remove the helmet at inappropriate times. Straps are attached to each side of the 9821 Helmet (or to the bottom of the face guard on a 9822 Helmet) and then cross comfortably under the chin, attaching to the back of the helmet with quick release buckles. This also can be attached to our Model 9820 Soft Shell Helmet.

MODEL 3460 - SOFT FOAM EAR COVERINGS

Covers made from our soft ventilated foam extend down over the ear area of our soft shell helmet. This modifaction must be specified at the time of ordering the helmet. Sold per pair.

I am probably not the best person to take the survey because my sons head was measured wrong and I spent $150 on a helmet thats way too big for my son. My son is special needs and needs this helmet but its hard for me to justify spending another $150 with your company just because my order was custom color which was grey silver. So to sum it up Im not so much disappointed with the product but the company that makes or distribute the product

Even though we measured as instructed, the helmet was too big. Quality of custom color and decals were less than expected. Disappointed that we wasted $200.
