This product is designed with autism and sensory issues in mind. Body socks are extremely helpful for children who struggle with proprioception, the sense that controls the body's ability to sense location, movements, and action. This sensory sock helps soothe and calm while still encouraging children to explore their movements by stretching and handling the material. There are snaps at the head which allow your child to peek their head out during playtime, or to keep their head inside the sock if their environment becomes too overwhelming. This sock is composed of a stretchy, soft material that is lightweight on the skin but still slightly compressive. Its compressive quality is designed to provide deep pressure input which is proven to both lower and regulate heart rate, and lower cortisol (stress) levels. The deep pressure input also raises endorphin levels and releases serotonin and dopamine, which increase mood and overall happiness.
