What the Sally Tube Can be Used for:
½ Repositioning
½ Lateral Transfers
½ Rolling
½ Pivoting
Sliding Transfers
Instead of lifting patients during transfer, Sally Tubes allow the patient to be slid. This simple transfer technique not only reduces the likelihood of caregiver injury but it also only requires the use of a Sally Tube Slide Transfer Sheet. No expensive, heavy equipment is required in a sliding transfer, and the transfer sheet can be folded compactly so that it takes up very little room.
Choose from 2 Different Sizes Available in:
½ 58" x 48"
½ 58" x 29"
Improves Infection Control
Sally Transfer Tubes make it possible to move the patient with only a minimal amount of manual handling. This reduces the chance of passing infectious germs back and forth between patient and caregiver. Both the reusable and single-use disposable transfer tubes can be wiped down to clean. In highly infectious environments, the transfer device can simply be thrown away after each use.
How to Place the Sally Tube Under the Patient
1. Place the Sally Tube's open end at the head and the foot ends of the bed.
2. Place the draw sheet upon the patient and bring the Sally Tube alongside the bed, making sure that above the shoulders, there is about 6" of material so that when you slide the patient up, the shoulders stay on the material.
3. Hold and pin the Sally Tube onto the bed so that it doesn't fall to the ground.
4. Lift up the draw sheet slightly and tuck the material under the patient's body, head and back area, and shoulders.
5. Walk around to the patient's other side and lift their body up slightly, pulling the material through.
6. Once the Sally Tube has been placed, the patient can be slid in any direction, including up and sideways.
Removing the Sally Tube
1. Push the Sally Tube material under the patient on one side.
2. On one side of the patient, find the bottom corner of the Sally Tube and pull, walking towards the head of the bed using bodyweight while pulling.
3. The Sally Tube will slide out from underneath the patient easily.
4. The Sally Tube can then be folded and tucked at the end of the bed so that it will be close at hand for caregivers when transfers, pivoting, and repositioning are necessary.
