More Information

The SafeAwake Fire Alarm Alert Device is a hearing alert device that provides visual, vibrotactile, and innovative auditory assistance that informs a hearing impaired or deaf individual of fire inspired crisis.

The alarm device is not a smoke detector but instead is activated by any US commercial or domestic smoke detector that is manufactured after 1996 which provides an audible signal sound in an intermittent pattern of a standard temporal-3 (T3) audible signal format of three beeps followed by a pause.

Once the SafeAwake fire alarm device "hears" that particular audible signal, it will activate a bright flashing white strobe light, an intermittent bed shaker that is 18% more effective than a continuous signal bed shaker, and a high decibel, low-frequency sound. The low-frequency sound (520Hz) is 30% more efficient in alerting hearing-impaired individuals than a standard frequency sound (3,200Hz).

The alert system has a fast sound reception to the sound with the T3 smoke detectors and the alert device, and it comes with a plug-in power supply with three CR-123 lithium-ion batteries in case of a power outage.

Also included is a large easy to use test button, an auto-shutoff and reset mode after 2-minutes, and safety UL 217 and UL1971 labels.

The small 6" by 3" patented designed device can be placed on a bedside nightstand or hung on a wall and simply be plugged into any 110-volt electrical bedside outlet. A low battery light will appear to tell the user the batteries will need to be replaced.

For whatever reason, the alarm did not work at one location, at all; and at a second location, the bed shaker worked when it was not under the mattress, but when we put it under the mattress, it didnt shake.
