More Information

The Pop Rivets and Rivet Gun is designed as a one-handed, squeeze handle pop rivet gun to permanently secure two soft material components together, such as a strap to a splint.

The pop rivet gun is designed with lightweight, strong, and easy-to-clean aluminum and works with a plier-action squeeze motion that can be accomplished with one hand. The purpose of the rivet gun is to permanently secure two separate components together by not hammering the rivet into place but rather by popping two parts of a rivet firmly together.

The rivet gun is fed over the rivet's mandrel, the shaft part of the rivet protruding from the rivet head. The other part of the rivet, the rivet tail, is inserted into the working material. When the rivet gun handles are squeezed, the ball on the rivet's tail is drawn towards the rivet's head, forcing a compression of the metal sleeve between the rivet head and the ball. The weak part of the rivet, the mandrel or shaft, breaks or "pops", allowing the riveting of the head and ball to come together, securing the two material components.

The corrosion-resistant aluminum rivets are sold separately and come in a choice of two sizes that list the indicated minimum-maximum thickness of the materials the rivet will join.

Does this gun actually pop the holes for you, or just secure the rivets through a hole that has already been punched?
Answer: The Rivet gun is specifically designed to secure two components. When using a Rivet gun, you are typically drilling a hole for the rivet to go through. Based on the thickness of the materiel being worked on, the gun may be able to penetrate and make a hole. It also works on sturdier materials where a hole was already made.
