Specially designed for pediatric sensory integration therapy, the Play Tunnel for Children can also be utilized for play, helping children of all abilities to cultivate a host of healthy development skills. Often used in a variety of clinical settings, this delightful and engaging tunnel is also employed for both play and therapy in schools, children's hospitals, rehab centers, and at home. While this tunnel assists with a number of different disabilities, its especially helpful for learning proprioception and/or sensory disorders.
Also helpful as a calming space, this tunnel is ideal for children on the autism spectrum or those who are otherwise overstimulated for any reason. Its smaller, child-sized dimensions aid in mitigating sensory overload and hyperactivity, helping to relax the child within its close, comforting quarters.
Durably constructed to withstand rough and tumble play and repetitive therapy use, this lightweight but heavy-duty tunnel also folds flat for convenient storage and transport, opening up again easily for quick usage wherever its needed. Its padded floor is covered in heavy vinyl, making therapy and play more comfortable and preventing bruised knees and hands. Its bright and colorful appearance attracts kids, resulting in improved therapy compliance that leads to better patient outcomes. The tunnel is easy to clean using a damp cloth and soap or disinfectant.
What is Proprioception?
Proprioception helps us determine our body's position in space via receptors in our muscles, tendons, and joints. Information from these receptors enables us to know where our various body parts are in relation to each other, combined with the level of pressure we feel from the surrounding environment. Proprioceptive therapy optimizes body awareness, sensory skills, vestibular balance, and motor planning skills; it also helps kids better develop and refine learning, cognitive, physical, emotional, creative, social, and linguistic skills.
