The Bionix Lighted Placement Tool provides audiologists and other medical professionals with the ability to safely and accurately place foam blocks in the ear canal. This innovative tool combines a bright LED light source and magnification lens to provide maximum visibility of the ear canal, ensuring safe, accurate procedures. Five depth guides are included at 5mm increments to provide reliable visual depth cues beyond physical landmarks, enabling precise placement of the foam block to ensure the efficacy of the procedure.
Easily useable with a single hand, the Lighted Placement Tool's slim profile maximizes precision for the user while limiting discomfort and risk of injury for the patient. The bayonet design of the curette maximizes maneuverability within the ear canal, allowing the professional to see exactly what they are doing while deftly positioning the foam block into place. These features greatly enhance accuracy, but also save valuable time during the procedure by negating the need for a third party to hold an external light source and minimizing the risk of error during placement of the foam block.
The disposable design of the instrument eliminates the chance of cross-contamination to maintain hygiene while also reducing the costs associated with frequent sterilizations. The light source and magnification lens, however, are designed to be used across multiple procedures and are easily changed out between curettes. Extra light sources and magnification lenses are sold separately if needed.
Assembly/Disassembly:
- To assemble the Lighted Placement Tool, insert the blunt end of the tip into the light source by aligning the pegs with the grooves inside the light source. Push down and twist FIRMLY clockwise until rotation stops. This will lock the tip into place and activate the light. NOTE: This product is a spring-loaded device; improper assembly may cause ejection of the tip.
- To attach the magnification lens, snap the lens onto the neck of the blue light source so that the top of the lens angles toward the
lighted tip.
- To disassemble, push the Lighted Placement Tool into the light source and rotate counterclockwise to remove. The light will go off
when the tip is removed.
Instructions for Use:
- Follow the mold manufacturer’s instructions for ear examinations before placing the foam block.
- Use the Lighted Placement Tool to insert the block into the ear canal and to make any slight adjustments. For your convenience, the Lighted Placement Tool is marked with grooves every 5mm from the tip. Once the block is placed, use an otoscope to verify proper placement.
- Once placement is verified, remove the Lighted Placement Tip and discard. Save the magnification lens and light source for your next procedure.
The Lighted Placement Tool is intended for single-patient use. The light source and magnification lens are designed for multi-procedure use. A light source and lens are provided in each box of product. The Lighted Placement Tool is an aid to help visualize the ear canal when placing a foam block for the earmold process. Improper use can cause trauma to the ear canal and/or tympanic membrane
