Patients requiring multiple IV lines present a variety of challenges, including keeping track of which line runs to which medication. As patients shift and reposition themselves, lines can become tangled, kinked, or even yanked out; in addition, dangling IV lines present a tripping hazard for caregivers and visitors, and can come into contact with the floor or caught up in casters during ambulation.
That's why Da Vinci Medical has designed the IV Guard Line Organizer, a simple yet invaluable tool for organizing up to 7 IV lines at a time. The polypropylene construction is extremely lightweight and completely MRI-safe; it resists both IV and bodily fluids, is easy to wipe down for quick cleaning, and can withstand hospital-grade disinfection protocols. Two knobs with non-ferrous screws cinch the IV Guard to the patient's bedrail, the IV pole itself, or similar structure up to 1.75 inches thick. Each port has a narrow entry canal that the IV line must be pressed into, preventing lines from leaving the port accidentally. The matte surface eliminates friction against IV lines, allowing them to slide through the port to accommodate repositioning. An integrated recessed space on the nurse side of the IV Guard is designed to accommodate the included labels for easy identification of IV lines; 14 blank medication labels as well as 3 blood product indicators are included, all of which are compatible with permanent markers.
