Who benefits from the GeriHeel Heel Flotation Devices?
For hospital or home care, this heel protection device is designed to assist with preventing heel ulcers and discomfort of the patient. Heel ulcers can occur when a patient must be in bed for long periods of time, leading to thinning skin and discomfort in the underside of their body. The patient can be in either a supine, or back lying, or side lying positions while using the GeriHeel Heel Flotation Device.
To use the GeriHeel Heel Flotation Device, simply lift the patient's legs and place the device underneath the legs. This slight elevation of the feet will prevent heel ulcers, assisting with the patient's overall health. The fabrication of the GeriHeel Heel Flotation Device ensures that the blood flow to the feet and toes is not compromised by redistributing the pressure appropriately. Additionally, the material of the GeriHeel Heel Flotation Device is designed to allow the skin to breathe and air to circulate while in use.
