What Types of Wheelchair Accessible Scales Are Offered?

There are several wheelchair scale designs available, ranging from semi-portable, to portable, to wall-mounted fold-up scales. All are specifically designed to allow patients to remain in wheelchairs while being weighed and can accommodate standard or wide, manual or power wheelchairs. They are also suitable for use with dialysis patients as well as ambulatory “walk on” patients. High weight capacities of 500, 800 and up to 1000 pounds make the scales suitable for use with bariatric patients.

Where Can These Scales Be Used?

The wheelchair scales on offer are suitable for use in doctor’s offices, hospitals, nursing homes and other types of facilities where patients in wheelchairs are accommodated. The portable nature of some models allows the scale to be taken to the patient, and the “roll on / weigh / roll off” design of others makes it easy to move the wheelchair-bound person to the scale.
