Whether you are new to buying CPAP masks or have already bought one in the past, the wide range of CPAP masks available in the market can be really daunting. And it is vital that you select the right CPAP mask for you to gain the optimal result of your CPAP therapy.

The good thing about having a wide pool of choices is that there is something for everyone. You can choose to buy a traditional mask or explore some niche options. And to make your shopping a little easier, we list down some of the most typically used masks:
Nasal Pillow Masks - Lightweight and unobtrusive, these masks deliver air directly through the nasal passages. These are perfect for claustrophobic patients.
Nasal Masks - With nasal pillow mask's simple design, these triangular masks cover the area from the nose bridge down to the upper lip. These masks can be worn even with glasses on or when watching TV, as it is designed to provide a clear field of vision.
Full Face Masks - People who breathe mostly through their mouth while asleep can benefit much from this type. Full face masks' coverage extend from the nose bridge down to your chin.
Oral Masks - These masks feed air through the mouth without covering the patient's nostril and field of vision. Oral CPAP masks are ideal for those who are mouth breathers who don't or can't use a chinstrap.
Hybrid Masks - The ease of a full face mask combined with the nasal mask's delivery. These masks deliver air pressure through the mouth and directly to the nostrils.

Some people tend to assume that men need a larger mask as compared to women. This is not true at all. CPAP masks come in different sizes and your mask size depends on the shape of your face and other key measurements.

Ask your doctor to know the size that would fit you. Most patients can fit on more than one size and CPAP masks are usually adjustable so you can get a neat and comfortable fit. Check the user guide to make sure you're wearing the mask correctly. Many of the problems patients encounter about the masks are caused by incorrect fitting.
