The Communicator for the Visually Impaired is a state-of-the-art assistive communication device specially designed for pediatric visually impaired individuals. The 7.5 pound, 19 1/2" long by 17" wide by 4" high device has scanning capabilities that include automatic, inverse, step, and two switch modes.

Included are 12 levels of large bright icon targets that will become illuminated and play a customized pre-recorded message when the target is pressed and activated. The brightly illuminated targets with icons or pictures make it possible for children with visual impairment to see, select, and push the button target to activate a pre-recorded message that correlates with the chosen icon.

Also included with the communicator is 300 seconds of available time for recording messages with a recordable level meter announcer and on/off auditory cueing. The device works in the fields of 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, or 8 and has two jacks for either one or two switch-mode scanning and two switches with lights for better visual location by the user.

The four modes of scanning can be seen at adjustable scanning speeds between 1-12 seconds and the communicator has headphone capability.
