A Commode Transfer Board is an assistive toileting device to assist an individual to transfer their body by sliding along the board from a manual wheelchair to a toilet seat. This transfer board has a unique shape with strategically placed cut-outs that fit around a wheelchair handle and wheel, while also mimicking the shape of a toilet rim. This allows the transfer board to remain on the toilet and wheelchair during an individual's toileting routine, and once completed, the user will have a quick and easy way to slide back onto the wheelchair without the extra effort of reapplying the transfer board.

The Commode Transfer Board is ideal for manual wheelchair users who need assistance with transferring to a toilet seat. The specially designed transfer board has strategically placed cut-outs that securely fit to a manual wheelchair (hooks around the wheelchair arm and over the wheel) on one side of the board, and the other side is shaped to circle particularly around a toilet bowl rim.

This design allows the user to securely and safely slide across the board during a transfer from the wheelchair to the toilet seat without having to dangerously reposition themselves to accommodate a standard transfer board shape. Another safety benefit of this particular transfer board is while the user is on the toilet seat, the board can stay in place and not have to be moved and then reapplied once the user is done with personal hygiene. This helps both the user and the caregiver in eliminating excess moving and straining during transfers.

The commode transfer board is available in two construction materials; a clear sealed, 3/8-inch thick, 7-ply birch wood that will support up to 400-pounds, or a 1/2-inch thick, high-density, linear milk-white, moisture-proof plastic board that will also support 400-pounds. The plastic transfer board has two unique sides. One side has a striated-sanded design that allows for easier transferring of wet, bare skin, and the other side of the board has a buff-sanded design for a clothing transfer.

A third transfer board option is a bariatric board that is a 1/2-inch thick birch board that will support up to 650-pounds.
