The Carmina Bariatric Shower and Commode Chair is a versatile mobility aid designed to accommodate bariatric patients of all shapes and sizes while still fitting easily through doorways. With the optional steel bedpan, the chair can remain by the patient's bedside for easy and comfortable access to toileting. The chair can also be wheeled to the bathroom where, thanks to the high clearance from the floor to the seat and the wide, open-frame design, it can be positioned over the preexisting toilet for hygiene routines. The frame and seat are both completely submersible and are compatible with bathing, be it sponge baths or full body showering.
To ensure the patient is as comfortable as possible throughout the entire transfer and hygiene routine process, the backrest of the seat is adjustable and can accommodate four different seat depths. This also serves to ensure the chair is compatible with most standard toilets. Arm rests provide patients a place to hold during transfers, adding to their comfort and security when moving, and also provide stable surfaces patients can use to assist with lowering themselves into and pulling themselves up out of the chair. An optional adjustable footrest is also available to enhance patient comfort.
Caregivers can firmly control the direction of movement via the front-end or rear-end push poles; both poles fold away easily out of the way of lateral transfers for smoother transitions. The seat of the chair tips up for easy chair sanitation and convenient access to the optional bedpan.
