What is Electrical Muscle Stimulation Therapy?
Electrical Muscle Stimulation Therapy, also known as EMS, sends an electrical current through the skin to the nerves using a self-adhesive electrode placed over the muscle. Interferential Therapy
Interferential Current Therapy, also known as IFC, is a deep form of electrical stimulation. Four electrode pads are placed on the affected area, so that 2 electrical currents interfere and cross with one another. This modality relieves pain, stimulates muscles, increases blood flow, and reduces edema. Interferential Therapy has the ability to penetrate skin more deeply that other forms of electrotherapy. With IFC, there is less discomfort, which makes it more desireable that other forms of electrotherapy.
