Neurological hammers are most often used to elicit a response from the tendons, the results of which can help determine if the patient has any abnormalities in their central or peripheral nervous systems. Reflex hammers can also be used for chest percussion, a process that loosens mucus in the lungs in order for the patient to more easily cough it up.
The Baseline Buck Neurological Hammer is designed as a multi-purpose tool that can not only be used for reflex tests and chest percussions, but also for other neurological testing. All models are equipped with two buck hammer heads, one slightly larger than the other.
The end opposite the reflex hammer heads of the Combination model has a tuning fork, at either 128cps or 256cps. Tuning forks can be used for a variety of applications, including hearing tests and touch tests. By placing the vibrating prongs against the patients skin, practitioners can not only determine whether or not the patients nerve endings are functioning, but can also determine if the patient can feel when the prongs stop vibrating, giving a more precise indication of the nerve state.
The Baseline Buck Neurological Hammer is composed of stainless steel, making sanitation easy to maintain while also providing durability for consistent use in large practices over long periods of time. The reflex hammer also comes in a latex-free option to cater to any patients needs, and hammers can be purchased in bulk quantities of 25 to a case.
