When the surgeon is prepared to use the blade, it is designed for convenient, one-handed activation. This allows surgical staff to get right to work without complicated steps for cover removal. Additionally, the scalpel and its activation can be performed with the left or right hand, which even further enhances convenience for surgical staff.

Accompanying the modern, protective design of the Safety Scalpel, it also offers valuable benefits in its packaging. The scalpels are sold in cases with each scalpel being packaged individually within a box. The individual packaging is sterile to permit use in the operating room.
