Jessi Cottrell, BSN, RN

Jessi Cottrell started her nursing career in one of the most prestigious hospitals in the country, Johns Hopkins Hospital. She climbed the healthcare ladder, starting as a EKG Technician before transitioning to a Phlebotomist and Laboratory Technician while in nursing school. She worked on the Ortho/Spine/Trauma Surgery unit as a new graduate nurse before transferring to the Adult Emergency Department. During her time in the Adult Emergency Department, she became an expert in emergency and trauma medicine. While in the emergency department, she realized there was a significant need for prevention education and became a manager at a local Addiction Detox and Rehabilitation Center. Currently, she is giving back to her community and organizing outreach events as a school nurse.

Her experience in emergency and addiction medicine with pharmacologic pain medication as well as her own experiences with pain management after various surgeries has fueled her passion for finding non-pharmacological methods to treat pain.
