Over the course of her storied career in Occupational Therapy, Ileana McCaigue has continued to find inventive ways to make an impact in the lives of the people around her. Upon graduating from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta in 1977, she worked with several medical institutions throughout the state where she gained valuable experience in clinical settings, helping people surmount a wide variety of physical disabilities.
Since then, Ileana has focused her attention on the pediatric field, spending more than two decades. She has written four nationally published books and conducted seminars and workshops across the country, which cover a comprehensive range of subjects related to pediatric care, but are focused on developing sensory strategies to guide patients in overcoming sensory-based problem behaviors and moving towards living a better life.
Ileana immigrated to the U.S. from Havana in 1957, when she was just 7 years old; she is fluent in both English and Spanish. In 2016, she retired from the school system after 20 years of working with youth in Special Education. Since then, she has been running her own private practice, providing holistic wellness and sensory processing therapy to a broad range of clients in need.
