Diane is a Polio survivor who has worked in the field of physical medicine and rehabilitation for over 25 years. Throughout her childhood and adolescent years, she developed many innovative strategies and techniques in order for her to compensate for the loss of mobility and use of her right shoulder. While working as a healthcare professional with special needs children, stroke survivors and hundreds of other physically challenged patients, she saw the need to design and manufacture a USA-made product that would facilitate independent donning of an AFO and shoe. The Original AFO Assist is now helping hundreds of people all over the world step back into life.
Diane currently practices as an Accessibility Consultant working with clients who wish to safely and comfortably age in place in the home they love. She also provides pro bono accessibility consultation services for a local ARC organization. Diane has earned certifications through the National Association of Home Builders as a Certified Aging in Place Specialist (CAPS); the University of Southern California with an Executive Certificate in Home Modifications (ECHMP); and the Living in Place Institute as a Certified Living in Place Professional (CLIPP). She has been an invited speaker at the NJ Foundation for Aging Conferences and she has published several articles on home modifications and aging and living in place. When it’s time to relax, Diane enjoys photography and acrylic painting.
