More Information

The MonoMano Adaptive Recumbent Trike is designed to help users who have the use of only one arm to comfortably and easily enjoy the benefits of cycling. Whether an individual with an upper extremity amputation, those recovering from a stroke or TBI, or those with limited hand function due to chronic pain or arthritis, this trike is designed to provide exceptional accommodation with convenient controls that can be comfortably and safely operated with only one arm and leg.

This recumbent trike is designed to allow easy, stable, and comfortable riding for all ages. On a recumbent trike, the rider receives comfort and a mechanical pedaling advantage along with the stability and confidence a trike brings. Riders enjoy a padded seat in a relaxed position that is ideal for recreation, fitness, or commuting. Adapted pedals provide complete foot stabilization and the ability to apply a push and pull motion for maximized power output.

This trike features the innovative MonoMano handlebar that is padded for comfort and an easy grip. It is easily adjustable so it can accommodate a wide range of users from children and adults up to 76 inches in height. The specially adapted platform pedals assist those with weakness in the non-dominant leg to pedal stronger, and keep the foot safe and stable with velcro straps.

To determine the correct recumbent frame size, it is important that you take an X-Seam measurement. Different from the inseam measurement used on traditional road bikes, an X-Seam uses a measurement based on the entire length of your leg, which is a necessary measurement when purchasing a recumbent bicycle. Following are the steps, along with an illustration, of the correct method of taking an x-seam measurement.

  1. Remove your shoes and sit on the floor with your back against the wall.
  2. Make an effort to push your glutes (butt) as far as possible into the angle where the floor and the wall meet.
  3. Extend your legs in front of you with your toes pointing upward (do not point toes out).
  4. Have someone measure from the wall to your heel. This is your X-Seam measurement.
