Product Overview:

Backed by years of research, mirror therapy is proven to be a highly effective form of motor dysfunction treatment. It supports neuroplasticity, the brain's ability to form new neural pathways, through a series of exercises. By moving the unaffected limb in the mirror, a patient's brain will believe they are moving the affected limb as well, stimulating motor function.

The Mirror Box for Therapy from Saebo is an excellent addition to rehabilitation centers, clinics, and any other occupational therapy setting. It has an easy-to-fold design, allowing specialists to go from room to room, patient to patient. The Mirror Box for Therapy can also be used in addition to other devices, such as e-stim units, to maximize the benefits of treatment.
Note: This product is for sale in the United States only and is ineligible for International Shipping.

More Information

Patients and clinicians alike have sung their praises for mirror therapy, seeing improvements in motor function, sensations, and reduced spasticity. The Mirror Box for Therapy helps the brain create new neurological pathways to control limbs that have lost functionality because of a stroke or other neurological disorder, otherwise known as Neuroplasticity.

So how exactly does a mirror help create new neurological pathways?

When a patient begins an exercise, such as closing and opening their right hand, they stare at the mirror and see a reflection that looks like their left hand is fully functioning. By staring at the mirrored image and simultaneously attempting to mimic motor function with the affected hand, a patient's brain will believe both limbs are healthy and actively exercise the affected limb, hence supporting neuroplasticity. With repeated exercise, these visual cues can help veterans with weakened limbs, stroke patients, and people with other neurological injuries speed up motor function recovery and reduce pain.

Studies show that mirror therapy can improve arm and hand motor function after a stroke and decrease neurological neglect of the affected limb. Occupational therapists can combine the Mirror Box for Therapy with other devices to maximize the benefits of therapy, ensuring the best for every patient. It has a convenient triangle design that is simple to set up and functionally effective, and its tri-fold construction also allows for one-hand operation and easy storage, transportation, and accessibility.
